RUOK Privacy Policy

Information Collection and Use

Effective Date 1 September 2026

1. To provide the core functionality of AreYouOkay, which involves monitoring safety check-ins from trusted contacts, the app requires access to highly sensitive device permissions. All data processing occurs locally on your device. We request the following permissions exclusively for the app's core features:

  • Notification Access (BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE): The app requires notification access to intercept and read incoming messages from supported messaging platforms (e.g., WhatsApp). This is strictly used to identify check-in messages from your pre-approved protected contacts.
  • SMS & Call Log Permissions: The app may require access to incoming SMS messages or device call states to verify safety signals from contacts when data connectivity is unavailable.
  • Contact Information: The app accesses your local contacts to allow you to assign specific individuals (e.g., friends or family) as protected "Guardians" within the app.

 2. Local Processing and Data SharingWe do not collect, transmit, store, or share your personal data. The AreYouOkay app operates entirely offline and locally on your Android device.

  • Message contents, sender names, and call statuses are analyzed locally by the app's internal engine in real-time.
  • We do not upload your messages, contacts, or telemetry logs to any external servers.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties, advertisers, or analytics companies.

 3. Data Retention and Deletion Because all data (including internal audit logs, contact statuses, and quota limits) is stored locally on your physical device, you have complete control over your data. You can delete all data associated with the AreYouOkay app at any time by:

  1. Clearing the app's storage/cache in your Android Settings.
  2. Uninstalling the AreYouOkay app from your device.

 4. Security We value your trust in providing us with access to your device's notifications and messages to ensure your personal safety. Because data never leaves your device, it is inherently protected from network-based breaches. However, remember that no method of electronic storage on a physical device is 100% secure, and we rely on the underlying security of the Android Operating System to protect local app data. 5. Changes to This Privacy Policy We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. 6.
